The best boss in the whole wide world who just WON A BAMMY!

Here is a picture of the best boss in the world at the Bammy's last week

She won the 2014 BAMMY as "Best Talk Show Host in Education" for Every Classroom Matters, an Internet Radio Show on the BAM Radio Network. She coauthored Flattening Classrooms, Engaging Minds and recently authored Reinventing Writing:  The 9 Tools That Are Changing Writing, Teaching, and Learning Forever , writes periodic posts for Edutopia among other big names.
She is Vicki Davis the coolcatteacher - a full time wife, mother, and teacher with thousands of followers on more social media platforms than anybody else I know.

Recently she wrote a post about me and this is my response post. Hat tip to Mark Weston on Twitter for tweeting me a birthday wish

When I got this on my not so smart phone, I ran upstairs (that is funny in itself if you know me) to my computer to find out what was a foot. It seems that Google+ told people today was my birthday

Today would have been my father's 101th birthday.  He left this world in 1999.  I can only assume I was showing Google+ to someone and entered the wrong date so they would not know my birthday.
I have worked for Vicki on Every Classroom Matters materials and other odd jobs since April and loved every minute of it.  I also am working on my dissertation ( I am ABD ) and live with an energetic 5 year old and his grandmother, who by the way is so fantastic at what she does that she just got a job at Frostburg State University days after she graduated with a Master's. She is the Coordinator of Veterans' Services !
Yes Vicki I am more comfortable in both the offline world and the online world as the backstage manager. I am the one who pushes others out on stage into the spotlight, sings their notes when they forget their songs, cues lines, paints the scenery, makes sure the props are all in place. I do it online, have done it offline for several school productions at a Veterans' School in Pennsylvania, and do it inworld for the Virtual Worlds Best Practices in Education conference.

If I have learned anything in this life it is that we live not for accolades but for those with whom  we surround ourselves and our relationships with them. So thank you best boss for the wonderful wishes !

So I have read Vicki's blog and yours and I STILL think that you should enjoy all of the fun of a birthday without having to "add another candle on your birthday cake" - - - unless you want it.

Thanks for all that you do, Lisa. You ARE the best!!!

Dr. Z,
Thanks. Incidentally, I did "miss" a birthday when I was in a coma during a birthday, so I count myself a year younger. My friends aren't buying it though....

In true humble fashion -- you didn't even tell me you wrote this. You are loved, appreciated and here we are 2 years later, older, wiser, and still friends and colleagues - as for the best in the world, the feeling is mutual, dear Durff. Very very mutual.
